Many small (and large) businesses turn to Facebook ads to help them reach a larger audience.
Whether you run a local business and want to reach people nearby to your location, or you are a national or international brand, Facebook ads can help you increase your brand awareness.
Running a Facebook Like Ad Campaign
Usually the first step towards introducing yourself to a new audience is to set up a low-cost Facebook ‘Like’ campaign.
A Facebook ‘Like’ campaign is pretty explanatory. It is one that helps you increase the number of people who Like your Facebook page. The goal is a Like campaign isn’t just to increase your numbers BUT to connect with people in a way that allows you to market to them in the future.
Once someone likes your campaign they are now in your community and every time you post a message to your Facebook page you have the opportunity to market to that person.
When you begin setting up your first Like campaign, you will need to select an image and write some copy. These two things will be the sole content of your Facebook ad.
If you aren’t sure how to put together a Facebook Like campaign read THIS post where we share step-by-step instructions.
The #1 Tip for a Facebook Like Campaign is …
Today I am going to give you the #1 tip for running a successful Facebook Like campaign: use image match.
What is image match?
Image match occurs when the image you use in your ad matches the main image on the landing page.
If you are sending people to a tab/app on your Facebook page you should make sure the image you use in that app matches the image in your Facebook Like campaign.
However, if you are not sending people to an app, but rather are sending them to the Timeline of your Facebook page you want to make sure the cover photo and your pinned image match the image used in your ad.
Here’s an example ad:
And here is an example Facebook Timeline page:
As you can see the image used in the ad matches the image in the Cover Photo and pinned image on the Facebook page.
As a result the Cost Per Like for this campaign is ONLY $0.16 which is very low for a Like campaign.
What About A/B Testing Images?
Here at AdEspresso we are big supporters of always a/b testing your Facebook ad campaigns. After all, that is one of the biggest benefits of using our software (which you can sign up to use for free HERE).
However, when it comes to Facebook Like campaigns, it is better for you to test other elements of your ad such as the headline and body copy.
You can try testing images as well, but in every test I have ever run the image that matches the landing page/Timeline has been the winner by far.
Why?
Image match immediately assures people that they are in the right place. With so much spam on the Internet these days, small gestures like Image Match count for a lot when it comes to reassuring your visitors AND keeping your bounce rate low!
Both really good things!

What would you recommend when bidding? Impressions or Clicks…
Overall right now we’d always advise to use optimized CPM (oCPM) as Facebook is getting really good in optimizing the delivery of your ads to reach your objectives.
If for some reason you don’t like it go for clicks!
Thank you,
I was confused about Like Campaigns. It is so easy that I was not sure if I did it right. You made it very clear to understand right off the bat. That is essential for us newbies. I thought that this ad business was going to be easy. There is more to it than it looks.. I love that it is so interesting.
